Queen Sheet Set Review: Soft Microfiber Sheets That Stay on the Corners

If your fitted sheet pops off a corner in the middle of the night, or you share a bed with someone who sleeps at the opposite temperature, this 4-piece set from CGK Unlimited is worth a look. It's one of the most reviewed sheet sets on Amazon, with hundreds of thousands of ratings at the time of writing, and those reviews paint a pretty clear picture of what you get for the money, good and bad.

What comes in the set

The queen set has four pieces:

  • A flat sheet, 102 x 90 inches
  • A fitted sheet, 80 x 60 inches
  • Two pillowcases, 20 x 30 inches

The fabric is double brushed microfiber, which means polyester, not cotton. The pillowcases close with an envelope flap at the end so the pillow doesn't slide out, and they have a decorative embroidered edge. The set is OEKO-TEX certified and goes in the washing machine. There's a long list of colors, from plain white to sage green, lavender and dark grey, and sizes run from twin all the way up to split king and split head flex top.

The corners actually stay put

This is what reviewers bring up again and again. The fitted sheet has deep pockets, and the listing says it fits mattresses up to about 16 inches deep.

One buyer wrote that their husband had a habit of rolling over and pulling every sheet off its corners overnight. The next morning, he found these still in place. Another reviewer said they ordered this set because so many comments mentioned the corners not coming off, and it held true even when they sat on one corner of the bed for a long stretch. A California king buyer said the sheet hugged the mattress so tightly it didn't shift all week.

If your mattress is thicker than 16 inches, or you've added a thick topper, CGK sells a separate extra deep version for 18 to 24 inch mattresses. Get that one instead.

How they feel to sleep on

Soft is the word that comes up most. Buyers describe the fabric as smooth and silky rather than crisp, and one compared it to the sheets in a nice hotel.

One review explains the appeal well. The writer always runs hot and loved cool, smooth hotel sheets, while their partner always runs cold and preferred jersey and flannel. Their old jersey sheets also stretched out over the week until they were sagging off the mattress. They switched to these, and the title of their review sums it up: finally, they can both sleep comfortably.

Pilling is the other thing people mention. A few buyers who'd had soft sheets pill on them before said these hadn't pilled after washing. A couple of reviewers also said they come out of the dryer without wrinkles, which matters if you have no plans to iron your sheets.

Where they fall short

They're thin. Amazon's summary of the reviews notes that several buyers find them thin enough to see through, and even one happy reviewer said they're thinner than what they usually buy. If you like a heavy, substantial sheet, this isn't it.

Durability reports are mixed. Plenty of people say the sheets hold up well, but others say they rip easily.

The corner grip isn't perfect for everyone, either. One buyer with a split head adjustable bed said the top corners lifted every time they sat up or raised the head of the bed. The same reviewer found the California king pillowcases about 10 inches too long. If you have an adjustable base, read the reviews for your exact size before ordering.

And again, these are polyester. If you want natural fibers or the crisp feel of cotton percale, look elsewhere.

Who these sheets are for

You'll probably be happy with this set if you want soft, smooth sheets that stay on the mattress, wash easily and don't need ironing, without paying cotton prices. The listing pitches them for guest rooms and vacation homes too. One buyer liked their first set so much they ordered several more for themselves and as gifts for family, and that kind of reorder story shows up a lot.

Skip them if you want thick, heavy sheets, natural cotton, or you sleep on a split adjustable bed.

So, should you buy them?

For what they cost, the reviews make a strong case. The fit on regular mattresses is the main reason people buy, and the softness is why they come back for more colors. Go in knowing they're thin and they're polyester, and you're likely to end up with the same opinion as most buyers.

PCA SKIN Nutrient Toner Review: The Pumpkin Toner People Keep Restocking

If you've been skipping toner because it always felt like scented water, PCA SKIN Nutrient Toner is worth a look. It's an exfoliating toner built around fermented pumpkin and lactic acid, and it has been on Amazon since 2004. One reviewer says they've used it for about 15 years, which tells you something about how it holds up. Below is what the listing promises and what buyers say once it's in their routine, good and bad. What's in the bottle You get 4.4 fl oz (130.1 mL) of a golden liquid that you swipe on with a cotton pad. The listing builds it around a few ingredients: Pumpkin wine, made by fermenting whole pumpkin. PCA says it brings the vitamin A and vitamin C from pumpkin and gives skin a brighter look. Lactic acid, an alpha hydroxy acid that the brand says moisturizes while it exfoliates. Aminoguanidine, which PCA includes to help aging skin feel soft and supple over time. The brand also mentions added antioxidants, enzymes and amino acids. The goal is a t...

Joico Defy Damage Protective Shampoo Review: Why Bleached and Color-Treated Hair Keeps Coming Back to It

Joico Defy Damage Protective Shampoo is a salon brand shampoo made for hair that has been colored, bleached or heat styled to the point where it snaps and frays. On Amazon it carries an Amazon's Choice badge, and at the time of writing it has more than 6,000 ratings, with over 2,000 bought in the past month. I read through the listing and the customer reviews to see who it actually helps, what people notice in the shower, and where buyers think it falls short. What Joico says it does This is a sulfate-free shampoo. The listing says it's free of SLS and SLES (sodium lauryl sulfate and sodium laureth sulfate), the harsh cleansers that tend to pull dye out of hair. Joico describes it as a rich, foamy lather that clears away dirt, oil and buildup without roughing up the cuticle or stripping the color you paid a stylist for. The formula is built around a few named ingredients, and the listing explains what each one is there for: Moringa seed oil for hydration, shine and softness Ker...

Old Spice Aluminum Free High Endurance Sport Deodorant Review: What Buyers Say About the 3-Pack

If you've been using Old Spice High Endurance for years and want to drop aluminum, this is the version to look at. It's the same High Endurance line in the Sport scent, but made as a deodorant only, with no aluminum in it. The Amazon listing is a pack of three sticks, 3.0 oz each. That aluminum detail matters more than anything else on this page, so here it is up front: this stick fights odor, not sweat. Keep that in mind and most of the reviews make sense. The buyer comments quoted below come from other retailers that sell this same 3-pack and the single Pure Sport aluminum-free stick. What you get in the pack Three Old Spice High Endurance aluminum-free deodorant sticks Sport scent (sold elsewhere as Pure Sport) 3.0 oz per stick The listing promises 24/7 odor protection and a scent that lasts. Other retailers selling the single stick describe it as 48 hours of odor protection. The stick goes on clear, and Old Spice says that cuts down on white marks on your shirts. How the Sp...
